REFERENCES: Research Film Series
Hosted at the Lusaka Contemporary Art Centre as part of  my Southnord Residency in Nov. - Dec. 2025.

Envisioned as an extension of the References tab on my website, REFERENCES is an ongoing film screening series exploring pan-African cultural networks and the afterlives of anticolonial struggle through moving image. Presented during my Southnord Residency at LuCAC, the series extens the citational practice that shapes my research and curatorial work: tracing how artists and cultural practioners have documented and reimagined histories of  socio-economic and political transformation across the African continent and diaspora.  It is also a series that examines documentary filmmaking as method of inquiry, featuring films using wide-ranging approaches to the form: observational cinema, archival montage, personal essay, etc. In doing so, it seeks to explore how the moving image captures,  constructs, and nuances narratives of African liberation.
